Introduction: Demographic transition, epidemiological, social and cultural changes have changed the health care system around the world. Home care is a type of health care that is an alternative to hospitalization, and reduces the length of stay, costs, and complications related to the hospital environment. Nursing competence includes the necessary abilities that are required to perform the role of the individual as a nurse. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to assess the competencies of home care nurses. Method: An integrated review study with comprehensive search in international databases including Science Direct, Pro Quest, CINAHL, Med Line, Pubmed, Scopus, Psychinfo, Eric, Magiran, SID as well as Google Scholar's search engine using keywords. Nursing, Nurse, Nursing Competency, Home Care together or alone to find articles in English and in the years 2018-2007. At the end, the collected data are analyzed using the conventional content analysis method. Results: After reviewing 1236 related titles, 11 related articles were studied by removing duplicates and cases where their abstracts and text were not appropriate. This review is based on the framework described by Whittemore and Knafl (2005), which initially extracted 97 codes from texts and, following numerous steps, included five themes: professional ability, professional management, professional interactions, professional progress and Professional education is over. Conclusion: The work of home care nurses includes advanced nursing care such as autonomy and decision making, assessments, solving nursing problems and counseling. Nurses need to develop the competencies of nursing care and apply special equipment to technical equipment. They need different skills, knowing how to supervise, train, represent and lead a good one. The outcome of this study is a list of competencies of nurses in home care that can serve as a basis for home nursing education and assessment programs. |
