Microplastics has an important influencing role in global warming and climate change. The production and accumulation of microplastics contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases, this further affect climate change. Presence of microplastics in Atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere & biosphere could have influence on greenhouse gaseous fluxes such as CO2 and N2O emissions. Microplastics affect global warming by disrupting carbon and nitrogen cycle through impact on soil greenhouse gas flux and disturbance in plant, microbe relationships and impact on ocean carbon storage. Discussing the relationship between micro-plastics and climate change is very important to address the challenges generated by these intertwined issues and minimize their environmental impacts, and is discussed in the paper. |
