Biocompatible ionic liquids (ILs) have shown great promise as sustainable and environmentally friendly components in oil recovery processes. Through their ability to modify the solubility, viscosity, interfacial tension, and wettability of the fluids involved in oil recovery, biocompatible ILs have demonstrated their potential to enhance oil displacement efficiency, reduce residual oil saturation, and improve sweep efficiency. Moreover, the environmentally friendly attributes of biocompatible ILs, characterized by their biodegradability and non-toxicity, further enhance their appeal for sustainable oil recovery operations. Overall, this study highlights the significant potential of biocompatible ILs as sustainable components in oil recovery processes. Leveraging their unique properties, these ILs offer prospects for enhancing energy production efficiency while adhering to responsible environmental practices within the oil and gas industry. |
