عنوان انگلیسی Environmental, Energy and Exergy Assessment of Thermal Coupling Process in Heat Integration of Distillation Columns
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Despite distillation's widespread use in industry, its substantial energy demands necessitate heat integration, particularly in light of the recent energy crisis. This paper introduces thermal coupling as an innovative method for separating a ternary mixture of n-pentane, n-hexane, and n-heptane. The proposed dual-column system leverages vapor from the first column to supply the second, removing the need for a reboiler in the latter. The thermal coupling's effectiveness is assessed through two classical configurations—direct and indirect—both with and without heat integration. The separation processes are simulated in Aspen HYSYS using rigorous solving methods rather than shortcuts for distillation columns. Exergy analysis and CO2 emissions measurement are conducted to provide a comprehensive assessment of the processes in addition to energy analysis. The findings demonstrate that the direct sequence outperforms the indirect sequence. Among the four processes examined, direct thermal coupling is identified as the most efficient. Compared to the indirect process without heat integration, the direct thermal coupling sequence reduces energy consumption, exergy loss and CO2 emissions by 69%, 55%, and 68.83%, respectively.
