Plant extracts are one of the most effective natural products that have been widely investigated to control root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.). In the present study, the aqueous leaf extracts of some plants were prepared by maceration method and the effect of five levels including 0 (control), 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and 1% on egg hatching and the effect of eight levels including 0 (control), 0.0125, 0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.8% on the mortality rate of second stage juveniles (J2s) of M. javanica were investigated. For this purpose, 100±15 eggs or J2s were added to the cells of 96-well polystyrene plates containing 200 µl of the plant extracts and kept in the dark at 27°C. The rate of mortality of J2s and egg hatching were investigated after 48 and 120 hours, respectively. The results showed that the plant extracts of Myrtus communis L., Rumex acetosella L., Dracocephalum ruyschiana L., Peganum harmala L., Cichorium intybus L., Aerva lanata (L.) Juss. ex Schult., and Apium graveolens L. at the highest concentration reduced the egg hatching compared to the control by 50, 47, 52, 57, 47, and 52%, respectively. Also, the plant extracts of A. graveolens at the highest concentration increased the mortality of J2s compared to the control by 92.87%. The obtained lethal concentration (LC50) of this plant extract (0.081%) were calculated. |
