As the world's population grows, aquatic consumption has also increased. It is important to pay attention to increasing aquatic production along with increasing survival and disease resistance. In commercial aquaculture, reducing production costs is important for farmers. Today, food additives are applied in aquatic diets to increase survival, improve feed efficiency, and reduce costs. Among the food additives, phytobiotics are cheaper resources to improve growth, survival and immunity, and their use in fish diets boosts the immune system and improves survival. Phytobiotics have a variety of properties, including antioxidant, antibacterial, analgesic, antiparasitic, growth enhancing, appetite enhancing, stimulating the secretion of bile and digestive enzymes, and improving liver function. Phytobiotics contain bioactive compounds including alkaloids, flavonoids, pigments, phenols, terpenoids, steroids and essential oils that affect aquaculture. Among these compounds, phenolic substances, polysaccharides, proteoglycans and flavonoids play an important role in improving the aquatic immune system and controlling infectious bacteria. The present study indicates that bioactive compounds in photobiotics play an important role in immunity, survival and result in higher production. |
